These pieces were more of my expressions honoring black beauty by creating old-fashioned cameo-style profiles in two modern styles with the same family of feminine colors. I wanted to convey softness and strength, and the irony of the merging of contemporary fashion vs. traditional ethnic fashion which has been just as colonized as black culture.
